This course qualifies for FINRA Institute at Wharton Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional™ (CRCP™) credit for candidates who have taken courses prior to January 2007. Participants taking the course who are not CRCP Program candidates prior to January 2007 are not required to take the assessment exercise and will not earn CRCP credit.

 

Course Description

 

This course provides an overview of structured products. Instructors analyze structured products by reviewing the building blocks used to construct these investment vehicles. The features and characteristics, applications, risks and basic pricing are explored. Instructors also discuss related compliance and regulatory considerations.

 

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Discuss the nature, size and role structured products play, from both the issuer's and investor's perspectives
  • Understand the role credit default swaps play as a key driver for structured products
  • Summarize the creation of structured products in the U.S. marketplace
  • Explain the features and trading characteristics of these instruments
  • Understand the role of a special purpose entity, and the varieties of structures that can be created using this vehicle
  • Discuss current regulatory issues in the marketplace, including recent examination findings
