Updates from the Regulators

Dr. Orts moderates a discussion with senior staff from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) on current regulatory priorities and updates. Areas of focus are current at the time of the session; typical topics would include recent examination priorities and findings; FINRA’s rule consolidation efforts; common types of interactions among regulatory entities; and a description of regulatory structures.

 

After completing this session, you will be able to:

 

  • Describe the securities industry regulatory structure
  • Understand the regulatory interrelationships of functions between the SEC and FINRA
  • Identify current SEC and FINRA examination priorities and common findings
  • Discuss the current status of FINRA’s rule review and consolidation process
