NASD would like to notify its members that The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (NASDAQ) has issued Head Trader Alert #2005-009, announcing modifications to its access protocols and front-end workstation. As announced by NASDAQ, there will be a new proprietary protocol, QIX, a new Nasdaq Workstation, and expanded functionality available through the Financial Information Exchange (FIX) protocol. As a result of these changes, NASDAQ will discontinue support of Application Program Interface (API) connectivity via the Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and replace the current NASDAQ Workstation II® by the end of October 2005. NASD is highlighting the announcement and is encouraging members and other interested parties to review this information to ensure a smooth transition by October 2005.
