NASD Regulation Launches World Wide Web Page with Investor Guidelines and Direct Access to Regulators
Washington, D.C.--Mary L. Schapiro, the President of NASD Regulation, Inc., today announced the launch of the NASD Regulation home page on the World Wide Web: http://www.nasdr.com.
The site, which investors around the world can access free of charge, contains an overview of NASD Regulation, information on investing wisely, an explanation of how and where customers can file complaints, a description of NASD Regulation's public disclosure program for investors to check out their brokers, and press releases on disciplinary actions and other matters issued by the organization.
It also includes a section on arbitration and mediation, which are increasingly utilized to quickly settle investment disputes.
"This web site puts at investors' fingertips a basic primer on how the regulatory process works, how investors can avoid problems before they occur, and steps they can take should they run into difficulty," said NASD Regulation President Mary L. Schapiro.
By mid-September the site will enable investors to directly file complaints on-line with NASD Regulation, and in the future will allow investors to obtain disciplinary information about brokers. "We want to use the latest technology to make it as easy as possible for the investing public to get the information and help they need," Schapiro said.
