Nancy Kassebaum Baker Nominated to NASD Board of Governors
Washington, DC—The National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD®), today announced its Nominating Committee has voted to recommend the appointment of former U.S. Senator Nancy Kassebaum Baker to the NASD Board of Governors. The NASD Board of Governors will act upon the recommendation during its regularly scheduled meeting on June 26.
"Nancy’s stature, experience and proven leadership abilities will be invaluable to the NASD," said Frank Zarb, NASD President, Chairman and CEO. "She is joining an organization whose mission is clear¾ that public trust is the cornerstone of our market and the interests of investors come first. She has clearly demonstrated her commitment to the public during her many years in the Senate."
Senator Kassebaum Baker served in the United States Senate from December 1978 to January 1997. During her tenure she chaired the Labor and Human Resources Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee’s Subcommittee on African Affairs and the Commerce
Committee’s Subcommittee on Aviation.
Senator Kassebaum Baker serves on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Ewing Kauffman Foundation, the NCAA Foundation and the Kaiser Family Foundation. Senator Kassebaum Baker is married to former United States Senate Majority Leader and White House Chief of Staff Howard Baker. They divide their time between Washington, DC, Tennessee, and Kansas.
