The NASD Names Marc Menchel Senior Vice President and Regulation General Counsel
Washington, D.C.—The National Association of Securities Dealers announced today that Marc Menchel will be joining the organization as a Senior Vice President and General Counsel for NASD Regulation, Inc. He will be responsible for rule writing and interpretation, advising senior management, and adjudicatory matters.
"Marc is a perfect match for this key regulatory position and an excellent addition to our management team," said Mary L. Schapiro, President of NASD Regulation, Inc. "Marc’s extensive experience in the securities industry will be a critical asset in dealing with the complex issues that face us and the industry. His counsel will help guide the NASD’s regulatory direction."
Before joining the NASD, Menchel spent 20 years in the securities industry in varying supervisory and compliance positions both in the United States and overseas. His most recent post was with Tucker Anthony Inc. where he served as the Director and Corporate Secretary, Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Prior to that he was International Counsel for Prudential Securities, where he was based in London and oversaw the legal and compliance departments in London, Paris, Hong Kong and Melbourne. He began his career as a Compliance Officer at Thomson McKinnon Securities where he received successive promotions to the position of Associate General Counsel.
Menchel received his J.D. from the Syracuse University College of Law.
