— NASD announced today that its Board of Governors has elected M. LaRae Bakerink, CEO of WBB Securities, LLC., to its small firm seat. She replaces William C. Alsover, who resigned on April 18.
Bakerink will serve until a new Board of Governors is established for the new regulatory body that will be created by the consolidation of NASD and the member regulation operations of New York Stock Exchange Regulation. The consolidation deal is expected to close in early summer.
Bakerink previously served two terms on the Board of Governors, from January 1999 through February 2006. She currently serves on NASD’s Small Firm Advisory Board, its Technology Advisory Committee and its District 2 Nominating Committee.
