NASD Market Operations is Planning Trading Halt Test in August 2004

NASD Market Operations is planning to conduct a trading halt test over its Trade Reporting and Compliance Engine (TRACE) and Bond Trade Dissemination System (BTDS) for corporate bonds in August. NASD will issue a vendor alert confirming the test date and details for a vendor conference call in preparation for the test - the vendor conference call is planned for July.

 

The preliminary test details are as follows:

Tentative Test Date: August 6, 2004
Tentative Test Time: 3 PM ET
Test Symbol / CUSIP: TEST.GA / 123456AB1

On June 18, 2004, NASD will communicate its intention to conduct the trading halt test to its member firms. NASD member firms will be instructed to contact their market data service and news providers to confirm how halt messages are communicated or displayed in these various products. TRACE BTDS vendors should be prepared to field questions regarding how their products do (or will) incorporate the trading halt messages.
