Direct data feed subscribers, including recipients of TRACE data via the Bond Trading Dissemination Service (BTDS) feed should take the necessary precautions to prevent data corruption. Thank you for your attention to this matter. SEC Approves Amendments Expanding the Definition of "TRACE-Eligible Security"

TRACE Pilot Program Extended to January 7, 2011

 

FINRA has extended the pilot program in FINRA Rule 6730(e)(4) that exempts from reporting to the Trade Reporting and Compliance Engine (TRACE) transactions in TRACE-eligible securities that are:

 

  • executed on an NYSE facility in accordance with NYSE Rules 1400, 1401 and 86;
  • reported to NYSE in accordance with NYSE's applicable trade reporting rules; and
  • disseminated publicly by NYSE.

 

The pilot program, which was scheduled to expire on January 9, 2009, has been extended to January 7, 2011. View the rule filing.

Effective Friday, January 9, 2009, all TRACE eligible symbols in the issues identified below will be changed as follows:

Effective December 29, 2008, the Mylan Laboratories, Inc. 1.25% convertible bond due March 15, 2012 (TRACE Symbol MYL.GE) will be listed on NASDAQ. Accordingly, FINRA has removed the bond from the TRACE Issue Master with effect December 29, 2008 and over-the-counter trades under this security should be reported to the appropriate FINRA Trade Reporting Facility (TRF) starting on that date.

BTDS Modification to Include Inter-Dealer/Customer Trade and Side Identifier


Effective November 3, 2008, FINRA will modify the Bond Trade Dissemination Service (BTDS) to include an identifier on each TRACE-reported transaction identifying it as an inter-dealer or customer trade, as well as the Side (buy or sell) on customer trades.

User Acceptance Testing for the TRACE System Modification to Support Trade Reporting of Equity-Linked Notes

 

Please note FINRA has changed the effective date for this release to November 3, 2008.

 

FINRA will be conducting a user acceptance test on Saturday, July 26, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (ET) to prepare for the TRACE system modifications effective August 4, 2008. Firms are encouraged to participate in order to ensure readiness for the August 4 implementation.

TRACE System Modification to Support Trade Reporting of Equity-Linked Notes

 

On February 22, 2008, FINRA issued a Trade Reporting Notice stating that member firms must report to TRACE transactions in equity-linked notes (ELNs) that are not listed on a national securities exchange. Effective August 4, 2008, TRACE will be modified to accept trade reports of ELNs that trade in shares as units and executed at prices that are an absolute value (i.e., dollar amount per share).
