I understand that youd like to restrict my ability to invest in certain investment products, namely leveraged mutual funds. I invest in these risky products only with money that I could afford to lose. I invest more than enough in broadly diversified, low cost index funds to cover a comfortable retirement. The money I use to invest in atypically risky ways is above and beyond what I need to meet my short and long term financial goals. I understand the risk that these types of investments may lose substantial value or go completely bankrupt and I find this risk acceptable, given the amount Ive invested and what my goals are. Restricting my ability to buy the types of investments I want to buy would hurt my chances of realizing outsize gains and make me worse off.
