I am currently using the SQQQ and SPXU 3x leveraged inverse funds to protect my stock portfolio during this market downturn. The SPY is down 14.11% and the QQQ is down 23.64% from their highs. My stock portfolio is down only 12.18% from my high. The 3x leverage allowed me to start later from the highs and use less funds for portfolio protection. Otherwise I would have had to sell more of my
Short selling and rehypothecation has been used to the detriment of retail investors and is threatening to destroy the entire market structure if left unchecked. Stricter reporting of positions, including naked shorts should be happening already. Brokerage firms, market makers, and other financial institutions were never meant to have as much control over the financial markets as they currently
Please leave it up to us individuals to decide which investments we choose. Having the option and ability to choose leveraged ETFs has been immensely helpful to me. For example, during this month of April while stocks / markets have generally been in a noticeable decline, I've been able to protect my portfolio investing in leveraged inverse ETFs that has resulted in my portfolio having
It's important for every citizen to have the right to purchase whatever stock we want. We need to retain the freedom to do this. Why take away our freedom. I don't need to take a test to be able to make informed decisions on stock purchases and I don't need anyone else making my decisions for me.
Please let us continue to utitlize inverse etf's, these are essential to protecting my retirement nest egg as we go through periods of volatility in the market. I use them to hedge my positions in stocks without having to sell any stocks and incur long term gains or excessive trading of those assets in ira accounts.
Money you make on an investment is considered a capital gain, and in most cases, you’ll need to pay a capital gains tax. If your investment loses money, you have a capital loss. Your capital gain or loss is the difference between the sale price and the cost basis, and the tax rate depends on how long you held the investment.
Buying these funds isn't any different from investing in high beta stocks, and I'd argue it's actually safer than doing so by focusing on a basket of stocks in a certain sector than only one. It's also safer than trading options, which is what people will be forced to do if they can't trade leveraged ETFs.

On December 19, 1985, the Securities and Exchange Commission approved a new Article III, Section 41 of the NASD Rules of Fair Practice (SEC Release No. 34-22731). The rule establishes a new requirement for members to maintain a record of their total "short" positions in NASDAQ securities in all customer and proprietary firm accounts and
The whole market is obviously being manipulated blatantly. This is unacceptable stocks like GME, AMC, MMAT and plenty others are being torn down by these manipulations, the media and fake accounts on social media and investment platforms bashing the stocks. Pay attention to this and you'll see it all
Short interest reporting needs to be completely overhauled if we want to stay the leading market in the financial world. The current self reporting approach is laughable, and the fines for "misreporting", or what I would call lying and stealing, are a cost of doing business instead of a punishment. We have the technology to track short positions like Japan is doing with Blockchain which
