Yes, please impose mandatory reporting on short sale positions in real time. The short sellers have real time data of the shorts sold, that information should be public and current. There is no free market without a transparent market.
I'd like to see the ability to hide naked shorts in options taken away, as well as meaningful penalties for breaking rules (fines as a percentage of valuation, turnover of profits made in such a way, etc.). It would also be nice if the dark pools weren't watched over by people with gross conflict of interest. Finally, some actual oversight of shorting would be good (no more self
Invest in what you know. It’s a common investing adage, and employees might think they know their employer better than anyone else. But should you invest in your company’s stock? Owning a stake in the company you work for might have some advantages. However, there are risks you should consider.
The technology exists for shorts to be tracked and displayed to the retail market in real time. There should be five designations on the real time level two transactions: by the ask sell the bid, sell short, buy to cover, buy or sell last price. Algorithms should be disallowed from opening or closing short positions so all must intentionally participate in the short sale. This will allow for more
You need to increase fines for non-reporting of short positions. The current plan is not even comparable to a slap on the wrist for the large hedge funds. It would more than likely hurt them less to pay the fines than to actually report on their short positions. As for the frequency of reporting, daily with full transparency in all aspects of the market would be appreciated but impossible. Also
Hello, I believe that this is a really important rule as we all know what can happen when shorts go unchecked. I understand the reason for shorting but when people get carried away, they can harm another company as a whole. I don't see how there could be any trouble making the info transparent to be able to keep a book on how many shorts are out on the market to avoid any issues of naked
It’s obvious shorting has a role to play in today’s market, but also has huge potential to be abused! When very large Hedge Funds or brokers can leverage their short positions by buying shares in a dark pool it becomes predatory because those buys have no affect on market price. This allows short position players to hold short positions longer than they should. If a time or price restriction was
I applaud FINRA’s proposed rule changes and support any rule that makes short interest visible to all investors. Free and fast information leads to better price discovery for all. Buried and outdated short interest reports serve only those who have short positions they wish to remain hidden and those who abuse FTD and naked shorting loopholes to manipulate prices. These actions hurt all investors
If there was more transparency into short seller positions paired with the proposed enhanced reporting practices it could encourage a more fair market for all investors, not just those largest participants. When attempting to do research into short positions into some companies I had a long position in, the information was so sparse, and vague to say the least, you could not accurately assess the
