Low cost leverage ETF can be a critical building block of risk controls for retail investors. Taking away leverage ETF would only limit the ability of retail investors to control their risk.
Investor protection is always important, but it's impossible to regulate all risks to the consumer out of the market. Freedom of choice should be paramount in free market economy with regulators focusing on the appropriate disclosure of risks.
As a professional advisor, I understand all the risks to my investments and therefore do not need regulation on what I can or cannot invest in. Individuals have different risk tolerances, and as such should have the freedom to match it.
Please do not make it more difficult for investors to use inverse ETFs. As with any investment, there are risks in using inverse ETFs. That said, investors like myself use these ETFs are a means of hedging risk.
Let American investors choose. We know the risks. We should have the freedom to choose. Please continue to demand FULL DISCLOSURE of all the risks and enhance education. Thank you.
