Hello,
I feel like as an individual investor i should be able to choose investments given my own risk tolerance and time horizon. I am able to understand the leveraging aspects and the risks of such investment vehicles. I use such 'short' funds to hedge downside market moves, as the vast majority of mutual funds available for 401K investment are LONG ONLY funds.
Investors accept risk (a little or a lot) when they invest in leveraged or inverse funds. Please do not impose restrictions that violate our freedom to invest freely. This is OUR money that we have earned and Investors invest at THEIR own risk. I am a fully licensed investment advisor rep. I know what I am talking about. Thank you
I have been investing for 35+ years. I think I have enough experience and savvy to make my own decisions. I don't take big risks, I may take some small risks here and there. I think you should be more interested in unregulated securities. I personally don't like inverse funds, I stick to options for short term declines.
I ask that you do not restrict my investment decision making by limiting in any way my ability to purchase leveraged products. If there is any concern, make it plainly obvious in the investment literature that is "highly volatile", etc. Use of leveraged products are part of my risk assessment process and risk management decision making. DO NOT further regulate!
The ETFs are a great alternative to trade with less risks than futures, you should regulate more those ridiculous margins that futures brokers are offering, a huge percentaje of new traders loose the account because you allow margins in futures for day trading that are dangerous.
With ETFs the risk is less because you use less leverage.
I should be able to buy any stock offered publicly and not be required to take any special tests unless I decide to become a broker myself. I know the risks associated with owning any stocks and leveraged or inverse funds really don't pose anymore risk than owning any other stock. This is a free country and I want it kept that way.
It is very important for an informed and risk aware investor to take calculated risk. While leveraged funds are riskier than traditional stocks, funds, etc, none-the-less, they provide a very crucial diversification alpha to smart investors.
I strongly urge SEC, regulators, Congress, and everyone else involved in restricting the access to leveraged ETFs in retirement accounts.
I need the freedom to invest in leveraged and inverse fund in order to help manage the down risks. I am able to get the knowledge i need via the internet and brokerage services.
I do understand your concerns, and there are those that loose money using leveraged and inverse funds, but this happens everyday in the market - it is a risk that a person takes whenever you invest.
Leveraged ETFs and options can help us (individual) to reduce investment risks in many cases.
If limited or forbidden individual investors to use that, will let us bear more risks than companies. It is not fair to individual investors. Limited trading leveraged ETFs and options will make individual investors in a weaker position and loss tools to protect ourself.
