As a life-long investor and a former registered representative with a Series 7 license, I learned that each person's investment strategy is unique to their current, as well as future, needs. Also, each individual's net worth may require hedging strategies that only leveraged and inverse funds can provide. To restrict access to these investment products means that regulators
As an adult who has invested for decades, Im well aware of the pitfalls and benefits of investing in leveraged funds. Limiting these funds to only high net worth individuals is further assuring that only high net worth individuals can prosper in the investment world. Havent poorer people been kicked to the curb and prevented from prospering long enough? Havent regulators presumed that poorer
I am fully aware of risks and benefits associated with leveraged ETFs. I have made a conscious decision investing in these funds which has helped me achieve my retirement goals sooner. I work for University of Southern California who has not been able to help me in retirement saving. I achieved in a short period of time what university's retirement fund specialists were planning in 20
You are limiting investor freedoms, although you may think you have good intentions, and you may be doing this on the eve of a bear market, which we haven't seen since 2008-9.
Who will this benefit? Hedge funds with a lot more political power than individual investors?
Making normal hedging in down markets less accessible to individual investors is not doing us a favor. We are stewards
I am THE only person that should be able to choose investments that are right for me and my family. I do not want or need YOUR decisions imposed on me. I use leveraged and inverse funds to help me protect my investments or enhance my returns depending on market conditions. Restricting me to do so while allowing so called "professionals" to use the same techniques is abhorrent
I began trading options more than 10 years ago. I studied with several teachers, able to use a practice account before trading live. I find option trading a way to limit my exposure to market risk, and still obtain the gains I want.
While my general approach is to hold ETFs, use both long, short options trades, as well as holding inverse ETFs to take advantage of market fluctuation.
I understand
Please stop shutting down our capitalist system. Do not take away the citizen's right to invest in any fund we wish. I myself am well aware of the risk found in "leveraged and inverse funds" which is why I use it as a hedge against a market downturn, and I only use a small fraction of my portfolio for my inverse funds. I do not need to take a test or exam to prove I know what I am
I should have the right to be able to choose the public investment that suits me. It would be unfair that public investment should be open to all members of the public, not just the privileged. I understand the risks of leveraged and inverse funds in my investing process. I'm also operating while I can take the risk myself, and regulators don't need to impose restrictions.
I guess my only comment would be; Why are you even asking for comments, instead put your energy into FIXING the problems (illegal activity) that you KNOW as well as we do exist, and are repeated daily. A blind man could see the manipulation that goes on and yet your organization has to as us "what the problem is". Come on! You're obviously in bed with "the problem"!
I would like to request that FINRA not restrict our ability to purchase leveraged and inverse funds.
Modern Portfolio Theory postulates that our main resource for profit is a function of risk. Almost any investment can have its risk dialed up or down to meet our financial needs.
So, it is prudent to allow all investors the ability to decide for themselves and take personal responsibility for
