The purpose of this Notice is to advise FINRA member firms that FINRA is temporarily increasing the maintenance margin requirements for auction rate securities pursuant to NYSE Rule 431(f)(8)(A) and NASD Rule 2520(f)(8)(A).

Increased levels of regulation (and individual restrictions) of personal finances and investments may seem like the correct answer to protect consumers in today's landscape.
Unfortunately, many well-meaning (but overreaching) restrictions will be pursued. While not apparent at first, these regulations and restrictions will certainly have the opposite of their intended effect.

I would want all the of these actions implemented and a DAILY accounting of it in both graphing and table form made available for public consumption. I believe that short positions are a part of the market's functionality. However, only 1 level. That is, a true 1-to-1 correspondence of short to stock share. The delivery date MUST be cut down to 1 day without a 'kick-the-can' down
