Rule 5100
Short Sales
Executive Summary
On October 2, 2006, the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) approved an exemption to NASD Rule 5100 (Short Sale Rule)
for securities included in the NASDAQ-100
I trade as a profession for myself and income. This would effect my day to day work. It would not be right to put unequal restrictions on investments. I primarily focus on leveraged ETF's for my main source of income and chart analysis. Everyone should have the right to invest however they please or will.
I regularly use inverse funds as protection in a down market. Regulators have no business telling me what I can and can not do regarding my investments!
These are no different than purchasing put options.
I already have a special agreement that must be signed before trading these instruments.
I would request regulators to let people invest freely in inverse and leveraged funds. Leverage is important to amplify profits and it should be up to individual to make that choice. Maybe if you need to regulate we can ask brokerages to double confirm each time trade is placed
I use leveraged ETFs to help hedge my gains and it is an important part of my investment strategy. I use these instead of options. Please don't take away this valuable tool from me and other retail investors who do not want to get involved in options trading.
I'm deeply disturbed by the potential restrictions on trading leveraged ETFs. Leveraged and inverse funds are important to my investment strategies.Government shouldn't interfere and set unreasonable hurdle such as passing a test to the type of investment I choose. Public investments should be available to all of the public, not just the privileged.
It is not anybody's responsibility to choose public investments except the investor. It is enough to provide a general warning that all investments involve risk. Many, if not all, trading platforms already require investors to acknowledge that there is additional risk involved with leveraged and inverse funds. No additional regulation is required or wanted.
Please do not block us from trading any stock I want, I feel that I should have my own right & freedom to chose where I want to invest and I dont like being restricted. So please do not add any restrictions to buy any stock.
I am totally against any restrictions imposed on me over trading leveraged ETFs. It is my right to invest my money on anything that I'd like and I do not want anyone else to make any decisions for me on how to invest my money or on what to invest it.
I have been successfully trading leveraged etfs for years and would appreciate it if I could continue doing it. Its my choice and I dont need FINRA or anyone else deciding whether Im up to it or not. Do not impose on my decisions without my invitation to do so.
