I am an educated investor and aware of the potential risks of utilizing leveraged and inverse funds. To take away these tools from the average investor will significantly impact their ability to compete with the pros. Please do not continue down this regulatory path. This is not going to accomplish a positive goal for the general public.
This is a violation of the free market principals. Risk assessment and tolerance is an INDIVIDUAL human characteristic, and therefore this approach will not work. Furthermore, I shouldn't have to go through any special process like passing a test before I can invest in public securities, like leveraged and inverse funds.
I am a retail investor and these funds offer me the opportunity to invest in strategies other than long equities. I am also an informed investor. I understand and accept the risks involved. I do not believe that regulation will encourage responsible investing. I do believe regulation will limit retail investor opportunity.
I am in control of my own investments and future. I should be able to take risks I deem appropriate based on my own information and do not want regulators limiting my options. This is an unfair practice and the common investor should have the right to make their own decisions on how they invest.
Hello,
I am in my forties and I have been investing for the past twenty years. I feel that this is unneeded regulation. All stocks have risk. I currently use my leveraged and inverse funds to help protect my portfolio. This money has helped me to pay for my home.
I do not want regulators deciding what i can invest in. I have been investing in these types of funds for over 10 years... We understand and accept the risk. We can invest for our family. We are about free trade. Do not let regulatory screw this up too.
The right to sell short in a stock market should not be limited to the super-rich. The average investors should have the same right through inverse funds. The risk should be borne by the investor himself, who should know what he is doing, and NOT forcibly eliminated by the seemingly good intention of the Regulators!
I do NOT support regulation of leveraged, inverse funds. I am aware of the risks such investments carry. Furthermore, I am an adult and wish to make my own investment decisions.
Please do NOT pass legislation/regulation effecting my ability to invest in leveraged/inverse ETF's.
Thank you,
Mel Brown
Comments:its my choice to trade any and all securities including leveraged and contra etfs. The information on its risks is widely available and I reviewed it many times. Its my responsibility. I and we do the Due Diligence as long as full disclosure is provided.
Thank you,

Hi,
I am a small investor that manages a number of portfolios for my extended family. The majority of these portfolios are IRA and 410K's and the only option available in those non-margin accounts for hedging risk is inverse mutual funds. The loss or limitation of these instruments would be a great loss to the small investor.
