I believe that individual investors should not be restricted from the purchase or sale of inverse or leveraged funds. Individual investors should be able to choose the publicly listed securities that are right for their risk and return objectives without going through extra steps such as income/asset verification, knowledge tests, or any other special process.
FINRA is violating their role in protecting the public by grossly overstepping their boundaries by unilaterally deciding what type of investments are deemed appropriate. There is absolutely nothing wrong with investments like leveraged product. As long as the proper disclosures of risk are disclosed, these type of investments are no more riskier than equity options and other investments.
I don't think regulators should make the determination what investments are appropriate for my needs. There should not be obstacles to investing in inverse or leveraged funds. I am comfortable with taking on that risk. Adding a regulator-approved test in order to be able to invest in these funds is an unnecessary intrusion on my right to invest as I see fit.
I have been using leveraged etfs for a long time successfully. If you have educated yourself about the risks and have they work, they are very safe to use. The government should not make it difficult for investors to use these tools that have proven to very effective as a part of a multi prong trading strategy.
I am opposed to the implementation of this rule. I am a small scale, non-pro investor and these type of ETFs come in handy when I believe I have determined the direction of a given market. Like ALL investment vehicles, there are risks involved. But to make requirements for participation restrictive to certain accounts is just absurd to me.
I would like to continue as its very important for me to recover all my losses this year. Being limited will take away my ability to invest long-term and have my profile recovered (50%+ down). Nothing will get risk its just simply leveraging in ETF form.
I've been trading leveraged and inverse funds for a couple years now and they are critically important for my trading plan. I realize the risks and fully own them, but they are absolutely necessary for my future plans. I believe as a free American citizen it should be by right to make such financial decisions for myself and not regulators.
Dear SEC, I use leverage funds as a hedge for my total portfolio. I understand the risks involved with these funds. I do not need any more regulations enforced on me what I can do . As an American citizen, I believe the constitution offers me the opportunity to choose how I invest the money that I earned.
Please do not restrict any investor from using leveraged products. If you were to restrict my ability to deal with leveraged ETFs, you will create a situation where I am forced to use Futures or the illiquidity of the Options market to manage my risk or balance my investments' leverage accordingly.
I should be able to buy leveraged and inverse funds. People buy options. Options are very risk. I do not have time to do research on options. Leveraged and inverse funds are good tools to improve my investment return. Regulators should not set limitations for individuals to buy leveraged and inverse funds.
