I shouldn't have to go through any special process like passing a test before you can invest in public securities, like leveraged and inverse funds. Explain that you are capable of understanding leveraged and inverse funds and their risks. Tell regulators you do not need these measures imposed on you.
I find these funds to be useful for hedging my portfolio. I am aware of the risks and chose to use these tools. With the enormous market drop in store taking away inverse funds at this time would be very hurtful. I suppose I would have to start buying options directly even though that is much more difficult.
Freedom to evaluate my own risk tolerance and invest in leveraged or inverse funds as registered securities on listed exchanges is the essence of a free market. I abhor the idea of more regulation vs less and strongly oppose proposed regulation that would inhibit my abilty, my liquidity and freedom to choose such investments.
I believe that I have all the knowledge and financial ability to invest in leveraged and inverse funds without passing special qualifications. I do not want these additional restrictions on my investing. Like many investors, I use these investments for only a fraction of my portfolio, and consider them an offset to the risk of investing in individual stocks.
I believe that individual investors should not be restricted from the purchase or sale of inverse or leveraged funds. Individual investors should be able to choose the publicly listed securities that are right for their risk and return objectives without going through extra steps such as income/asset verification, knowledge tests, or any other special process.
FINRA is violating their role in protecting the public by grossly overstepping their boundaries by unilaterally deciding what type of investments are deemed appropriate. There is absolutely nothing wrong with investments like leveraged product. As long as the proper disclosures of risk are disclosed, these type of investments are no more riskier than equity options and other investments.
Please do not restrict any investor from using leveraged products. If you were to restrict my ability to deal with leveraged ETFs, you will create a situation where I am forced to use Futures or the illiquidity of the Options market to manage my risk or balance my investments' leverage accordingly.
I should be able to buy leveraged and inverse funds. People buy options. Options are very risk. I do not have time to do research on options. Leveraged and inverse funds are good tools to improve my investment return. Regulators should not set limitations for individuals to buy leveraged and inverse funds.
Dear FINRA Although I am not a big and important investor, however I value my current ability to invest in as diverse a range of assets as possible. I do not request or want regulations to protect me, I will calculate and decide the risk. Therefore, please desist from considering restrictive regulations in any investment category.
I'm both a financial advisor and an investor, i find the the leveraged etf's are necessary to mitigating long term risk. by themselves they are a problem. but when used corrrectly they help lower volatility of the overall market, and individual investor portfolios, especially since there is no other way to easily hedge the down side in retirement accounts.
