Individual investors have the right to freely decide for themselves what securities they want to invest in and what their risk tolerance is to achieve their long term financial goals, without arbitrary restrictions by FINRA. ANY LEGISLATION TO IMPOSE LIMITATIONS OR RESTRICTIONS ON INDIVIDUAL INVESTORS RIGHTS TO FREELY CHOOSE THEIR INVESTMENTS WILL BE MEET WITH FEIRCE OPPOSITION
I am against the passage of Proposed Rule #S7-24-15. I have found leveraged and inverse ETF's easy to understand and trade. The risk involved in high beta stocks can be higher. I prefer to trade long in lieu of short selling and puts. Inverse EFT's are my vehicle for being long but bearish.
I shouldn't have to go through any special process like passing a test before you can invest in public securities, like leveraged and inverse funds. Explain that you are capable of understanding leveraged and inverse funds and their risks. Tell regulators you do not need these measures imposed on you.
The financial markets are undemocratic enough. Please do not restrict investors in favor of professional institutional investors. These instruments are used for risk management, hedging enhancing returns of smaller investors and leveling the playing field given wash sale rules, margin requirements and those who do not want to invest in options.
I am aware of the risks involved in leveraged and inverse funds. I use them to hedge my portfolio, not as my primary investment vehicle. I do not think I should need to take a test, or have a certain amount of assets to invest in these funds. The funds should be available to all investors. Existing disclosures are sufficient.
I am perfectly capable of assessing the risk of investment options, choosing which investments to include in my 401K, and accepting the financial consequences - beneficial or detrimental - of my investment decisions. I do not need or want government regulatory guidance or restrictions on my investment options. Please stay out of my financial opportunities and decisions.
FINRA,
This new rule seems to badly discriminate against small personal investors. Why are you chasing me out of my current positions in leveraged ETFs? It is a bad plan to make the market for leveraged funds an oligopoly because it comes with the exclusion of disciplined personal investors who are capable of accepting risk.
Adults should be able to make their own decisions for trading. Leveraged funds have been a part of my trading for years and helps with enhanced returns and growth of my accounts. I understand the risks and the rewards. I am against regulators changing my ability to trade what I want to trade and when I want to trade.
Stop trying to put so many hurdles in the way of my investing. It's fine to require a disclosure on the part of the broker and an acknowledgment of risk on my part as an investor, but any more than that is just harassment. I'm going to pass all the qualifications you are proposing. I don't need them "protecting" me.
I, and not the regulators should be able to choose the public investments that are right for me and my family. Public investments should be available to all of the public, not just the privileged. I am capable of understanding leveraged and inverse funds and their risks. I do not need these measures imposed on me. Leveraged and inverse funds are important to my investment strategies.
