I can understand the goal of protecting novice investors from complex investment tools they lack the sophistication to understand; however, requiring vendors to supply documents to educate the investment community and requiring users to sign off on having reviewed those documents should be the limit of any requirements. Restricting access based upon net worth is absurd.

The leverage of some of these funds is strong and they enable hedging portfolios without triggering large long-term capital gains , thereby adding stability to the markets.
Also, they allow the investor a less expensive alternative to utilizing options with large time premiums. I think these funds serve a valuable purpose for investors at any level. I believe everyone should be able to utilize
We should be able to choose our investments if they are public without any constraints or additional approvals. Those who are interested in investing in these funds understand the risk and should be able to do so.

I am a private investor and highly value leveraged and inverse ETFs and derivatives. Regulators should NOT be determining nor limiting my ability to invest in these. They are instruments and strategies that help protect my portfolio when needed. Please do not place restrictions on leveraged and inverse ETFs.
If I wish to lose money its my choice. You guys did nothing when General Motors ticker symbol changed in 2008 and allowed people to invest in a stock which was no longer linked to a company, now you are concerned that we are not smart enough?!??? Give me a break!
