Self-Paced E-Learning Courses - Crypto and Blockchain Education Program

To prepare, firms can sign up for FINRA’s Financial Learning Experience™ (FLEX™) platform, where courses will be available in addition to other e-learning providers. Individuals who are interested should work with your firm’s continuing education contact to express interest internally.

Our self-paced e-learning courses develop and expand your knowledge and understanding in crypto assets and blockchain technology including crypto asset terminology markets, typologies, products and key considerations.

Foundational-Level E-Learning Courses (Available to assign via FLEX in October)

Courses provide financial professionals with essential knowledge of crypto asset fundamentals and blockchain technology. These introductory courses establish a solid understanding of crypto assets, enabling participants to recognize key concepts and terminology relevant to the evolving crypto landscape. Course topics include:

  • Core blockchain and crypto asset terminology 
  • How crypto asset transactions and blockchains work 
  • Overview of crypto asset types, the crypto market, and related products/services 
  • Key considerations for firms with touchpoints to crypto assets and blockchain technology

Intermediate-Level E-Learning Courses (Available to assign via FLEX in January 2026)

Comprised of courses that build upon foundational knowledge by providing financial professionals with a deeper understanding of crypto asset markets and blockchain applications, as well as in-depth discussion of member firm touchpoints to crypto asset activities and products. (Completing the foundational-level courses first is recommended.)

Advanced-Level E-Learning Courses (Coming in 2026)

Comprised of courses that build upon foundational and intermediate e-learning to deliver in-depth discussion of more complex crypto asset concepts and emerging blockchain technologies. (Completing the foundational- and intermediate-level courses first is recommended.)

Q: How can I take these courses? 

A: For more information on how to subscribe to the FLEX platform, please visit Accessing FLEX.

Q: How long are the courses? 

A: They are self-paced, and each course is between 30- and 45- minutes.

Q: What is the cost? 

A: Firms can choose between two types of licenses for the FLEX platform. It is recommended to select the Library License if your firm plans to assign the full curriculum.

  1. Library License: a license where the firm is billed based on the number of users with unlimited course access. Pricing: $60 per user. 
    * Volume discounts will be applied after exceeding 200 users.
  2. Course License: a license where the firm is billed based on the number of courses launched. Pricing: $18 per course for the first 1,500 courses 
    * Volume discounts will be applied after exceeding 1,500 courses.

Billing occurs quarterly through E-Bill invoices based on a firm’s license type and consumption. Email [email protected] to learn more.
