About the FINRA Institute at Georgetown CRCP Program

1. What’s new?

Beginning with the 2018 program, FINRA is partnering with Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business to deliver the FINRA Institute at Georgetown Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional (CRCP)® program.

2. Why is FINRA making this change?

We believe that Georgetown University’s business and law school professors’ securities industry expertise and knowledge of the evolving financial regulatory landscape, as well as McDonough’s  innovative, rigorous approach to academics, will substantially benefit CRCP® participants. In addition, the Financial Times ranked McDonough’s Executive Custom Programs #4 in the U.S. and #15 in the world in the publication’s latest executive education ranking.

The FINRA Institute at Georgetown CRCP program will continue to provide participants with:

  • access to world-renowned professors, expert faculty, other regulators and FINRA senior staff;
  • valuable insight into the complex compliance, legal and regulatory issues broker-dealers face; and
  • an expanded professional network, including compliance peers, legal and regulatory staff.

3.  Is the CRCP designation I earned through Wharton still valid?

Yes. The CRCP designation is independent of FINRA’s academic partner.

4.  If I started the program and completed Week I at Wharton within the last two years, can I take Week II at Georgetown to obtain my certificate?

Yes. If you started the program at Wharton and successfully completed Week I, you may enroll in Week II at Georgetown to complete your coursework and obtain your CRCP certificate.

5.  Are there any changes to the CRCP continuing education requirement?

No. As a graduate of the program, you will continue to be required to complete 12 hours of continuing education credits (CE) every three years. Those who do not complete and report 12 hours of CE credit every three years may no longer use the CRCP designation.
