OATS IFT/FTP Server Migration

OATS is in the process of upgrading the IFT/FTP servers. Below is important information for IFT and FTP users regarding the changes:

  • Upgrade of Tumbleweed SecureTransport server software from version 4.1 to version 4.8
  • Change in the Production FTP IP address
  • Change in the Production IFT IP address
  • File size limit increase from 4MB to 6MB
  • No changes for Web and E-mail users
     

The chart below provides more details. Please note that Order Sending Organizations (OSOs) will no longer be able to access OATS using the IP address effective November 17, 20081.

The OATS Certificate Test (CT) IFT/FTP environment will be migrated to a new server. The server migration includes an upgrade to the SecureTransport server software to version 4.8. OATS will also increase the file size limit from 4MB to 6MB. The CT upgrade does not include a change in DNS or IP address.

Since the SecureTransport upgrade and file size increase may impact transmission to OATS, OSOs should test successful file transmission in CT prior to the Production go-live.

For users accessing OATS via the DNS name:
The OATS Production Environment (PD) IFT/FTP environment will be migrated to a new server. The server migration includes an upgrade to the SecureTransport server software to version 4.8. OATS will also increase the file size limit from 4MB to 6MB.

IFT users may continue to access OATS using the DNS name 'ift.finra.org'. FTP users may continue to access OATS using the DNS name 'oats-ftp.finra.org'.

For users accessing OATS via the IP address:
Users will continue to access the legacy IFT/FTP server. Users will have until November 17, 2008 to switch to the OATS DNS name to access the new server. For more information on accessing OATS using the DNS names, please refer to Chapter 3 of the OATS Technical Specifications.

All OSOs will be migrated to the new IFT/FTP server. OSOs will no longer be able to connect to OATS using an IP address.
