Qualification and Training Requirements
Prerequisites

Candidate must complete the following:

  • 1,000 hours of financial counseling experience
  • Employment verification form to be signed by the applicant’s supervisor or, if self-employed, by an individual knowledgeable about the applicant’s practice

Meet the educational requirement by selecting any of the following AFC Education Pathways:

  • Self-Paced Study

  • AFCPE Approved Education Program
  • Independent Training

In-person, proctored final certification exam

30 CE units every two years
