I HAVE BEEN INVESTING IN THE STOCK AND BOND MARKETS SINCE THE 1970'S AND I DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF REGULATORS TO CHOOSE MY INVESTMENTS.
Restricting individual right to invest in funds or any legal investment is not in the best interest of American citizens. Requiring a test of some sort or sign off on the risk involved would be a better option to address these concerns.
I oppose any restrictions that may unnecessarily eliminate or appropriate restrictions on investments being considered under SEC Proposed Rule #S7-24-15 to the extent that it provides a platform for intuitions to manipulate or gain advantage over retail investors. Free market capitalism should not be compromised by individuals fears or inability to educate oneself in an era of communication and free information.
I oppose restrictions to my rights to invest in leveraged or inverted equities.
I want the freedom to choose my investments MYSELF. I want less government regulations, not more. I oppose these proposed restrictions on my right to invest. The crappy performance of the market lately is directly attributable to the feckless policies of the current government administration. The best thing the government can do is to cease its over regulation of everything.
Government is supposed to be here to provide the services that the citizen can't provide, like military, international policies, etc. This government wasn't set up to be babysitters for its citizens. Citizen can make their own decisions, be they bad ones or good ones. Every day we make decisions about our lives without government intervention. Some of these decisions literally cost people their lives, but it is still OUR decision. Investment are also a choice that many people make than can drastically affect their financial future.
I'm concerned about your plan to restrict my access to leveraged and inverse ETFs. I strongly urge you to reconsider your plans. I should be able to choose investments that are right for me and my family -- regulators should not interfere here. Passing a test or having cool off periods is completely unnecessary hand holding. You are trying to protect a small subset of investors that are investing in a reckless fashion. They are wired that way and will easily find another way of being reckless.
he leveraged and inverse tools now available to investors are great innovations which level the playing field for investors. They can be used for a variety of purposes, including hedging investments during periods of volatility. Please don't try to "protect" investors. Let us choose the investmetns that fit our needs
Instead of restricting people from using leveraged instruments, work on educating people on the advantages and disadvantages. It is our money at risk, and we should not be restricted because a handful of individuals got clobbered using a use these tools.
I am most disappointed in this attempt to limit what I can invest my money in. This is excessive and unnecessary.
