To the FINRA regulators:
As an individual investor, I should be able to choose public investments without restriction. Leveraged and inverse investment vehicles are important to my investment strategy. For instance, in order to hedge long exposure in S&P 500 stocks, I might buy a call spread in the VXX ETN. I am capable of understanding these types of financial products and do not need to be tested by my broker or certified as a sophisticated investor.
I am categorically opposed to limitations of trading leveraged and inverse securities. No one but me should decide how I invest my money. I don't need babysitters when I make financial decisions.
To Whom It May Concern,
I strongly oppose the restrictions to my right to invest in leveraged and inverse funds. Leaving these types of funds in the hands of only "high net worth" individuals or brokerages only accentuates the wealth imbalance in this country. Being able to invest in inverse ETFs has safeguarded my portfolio from serious losses, while still being actively invested in the market.
I shouldn't have to go through any special process like passing a test before I can invest in public securities, like leveraged and inverse funds. I am capable of understanding leveraged and inverse funds and their risks. I don't need regulators baby sitting my decisions on public investment options.
this proposal is unacceptable to me & my family
The current disclosures accurately and thoroughly explain the risks associated with leveraged funds - including inverse funds. Please refrain from yet another government episode of unnecessary government involvement. It really appears you have solutions looking for problems.
Let the broader public invest inleveraged and inverse funds. These can be part of a sensible investment portfolio, as a hedge.
Government regulators should not be in charge of all investment decisions. Power to the people.
To FINRA regulators,
It is unimaginable and blatant discrimination that you would even consider which stocks or etf's a person may or may not trade. I am fully aware of the risk associated with trading leveraged and inverse funds and they are an important portfolio tool. You need to either ban leveraged and inverse funds completely for EVERYONE or leave things as they are.
Respectfully,Denis Forcier
Dear FINRA administration,
I strongly urge you to allow all investors the opportunity to invest in leveraged and inverse fund classes. These funds can help regular Americans like myself have a simpler tool to invest money responsibly by using such funds to track indexes and hedge our investments in other stocks without having to use options and other more complex instruments. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
