Protect my ability to invest the way I choose
Use of derivatives was proposed by Anddre Perod of Harvard Business School in about 2000 at the HBS Investment Management lectures. Security markets are not a one-way street, he explained. It is a good way to hedge portfoliios, and with leverage it can provide an efficient use of capital so long as there is an appropiate risk discipline as volatility is maximized.
Use of short and commodity funds has been key to my investment strategy for many years. There are plenty of warnings published with all these funds, if people won't read and heed warnings, the should not be investing at all. In a free country though, they have the right to use all the tools, and that is a good thing.
Hello FINRA,
Understand you make rules for betterment. I came to know you are changing the rules for Leveraged and Inverse ETFs and making it hard for common people to invest.
I am 61 years old and heavily invested in these ETF's as they provide better return and looking forward to my retirement. I do understand the risks involved and these days everything is detailed on internet and people debate online and exchange/share information.
This is America don't forget that
I oppose this regulation. I understand risks related to ProShares, and I keep this part of my portfolio very small.
Let me make my decisions and use
cash that I have earned and do not
allow the rich to generate more wealth by selective buying!
This country is always favoring the
connected people and the middle
class is suppressed!
Dont regulate us!
we need less regulations then more.
I am writing today to express my view that investors, not regulators, should be able to determine the appropriate investments for their accounts. In particular, leveraged and inverse ETF funds should be acceptable investments for all investors. I have used these types of funds personally to help hedge my portfolio and feel that they have provided me with some great alternatives to traditional hedging using equity and index options that many investors do not understand appropriately.
Public investments should be available to all of the public, not just the privileged. While this may be thought to protect the small investor, it just puts more baricades in place. The area of protection that the public needs is from big banks doing risky, convoluted investing and trading, causing market crashes, like the 2008 financial crisis.
