This seems highly unfair. Everyone should have the ability to invest in ETFs and other vehicles that have democratized investing for the common man.
I use leveraged and inverse funds as part of my overall long-term investment strategy. These funds should not be limited in our ability to invest in. I am a proud American with the freedom to invest in companies and funds and have the ability to devise my own strategies for determining my long-term success!
DO NOT TAKE THIS AWAY. Limiting the ability for individuals to invest the way they deem fit for themself is not what is best for us. By taking away our choices of a very necessary investment you are making a fiduciary decision without knowing the client.
I am an educated investor with the ability to research and understand "complex" investment vehicles such as leveraged and inverse funds. I do not need to take additional tests, or have a minimum portfolio to purchase these public investments. Over the years, leveraged funds have substantially increased my performance and will allow me and my family to have a more secure retirement. Do not limit or remove our ability to invest in these securities.
Inverse funds allow me to hedge my portfolio against a market downturn. It is almost like having insurance for your car. Nobody wants to be in a auto accident, but it is nice to know that you are insured in case you are. I did not have to pass any special test before getting my auto insurance policy. I have the right choose my investments!
I believe more regulations on investment choices are not good for a true free market. If something is risky, then education should be the tool, not government regulations. Leveraged investments are part of the entire investment family. It has its position as kind of choices offered to the experienced investors.
I oppose putting limitations on complex products. This gives us the investors the ability to diversify when markets are week and strong. This would be a big detriment to the trading and investing community.
Leveraged and inverse ETFs are critical for my investment strategy. I rely on the freedom offered by US markets in these products to realize my goals because of enhanced returns. I don't believe I should have to go through a very restricted selection process to be able to access these products. Please please keep the ETF markets open!
